In May 2012, my family and I went on a trip to Krabi. Like every other trip, we bought the tickets almost a year in advance and began planning when it was closer to the trip. We stayed there for 6 days and 5 nights - the place was great! It was quieter compared to Phuket (which was a tourist trap), and even though it was the closing to the monsoon season, there were quite a number of tourists around. Not too many to be a nuisance, but just enough for a "crowd feel". I highly recommend a visit as the islands are beautiful.
Our basic itinerary for the trip are as follows:
- Day 1: arrive in Ao Nang Beach, checked in Baan Santhiya villa and tour around Ao Nang
- Day 2: Four Islands Tour (Pranang Beach, Tup Island, Poda Island, Chicken Island)
- Day 3: Phi Phi island tour (Bamboo Island, Phi Phi Don, Maya Island, lagoons)
- Day 4: Trip to Railay Beach & walk around Ao Nang
- Day 5: Ao Nang beach (shopping, massage, walking around the area)
- Day 6: Walk along Ao Nang beach for the souvenir stalls + head home
My advice is to go there and book the island tours in person - there's room for negotiation/haggling, and the visits are highly dependent on weather as well. When we went on the 4 Islands tour on the second day, our boat broke down on our way back to the mainland and it took almost an hour for a replacement boat to be found - and we broke down in the middle of high tide. No matter, we took the time to nap inside the boat as it was nice and breezy, lol.
I will let the pictures speak for themselves :) All pictures credited to my dad and taken from his Facebook page, Rusdi Mohamad!

All in all, a much needed break with the family.
